~Our first day of school~

OH-MY-WORD!!!!
That's about the only words I have left in me to describe our first day of school!
(Let's just say I had high hopes of blogging last night but instead, I was so drained and exhausted that I decided this post should just wait another day!)

Yesterday was our first day of school for the year and boy-oh-boy, was it a crazy one! First days are always hectic (and they pretty much put the teacher in survival mode) but this year's first day seemed extra chaotic! I had a few behavior issues that I was dealing with for most of the day (that I was WAY unprepared for), plus my daughter entered kindergarten yesterday (it totally made me anxious), plus we had an assembly at the end of the day (for about 30 minutes)!  Those three things alone made me a basket case by the time school ended yesterday! Needless to say, I felt like I had run a marathon, been run over by a train and climbed Mount Everest, all in one day!

With all that being said, we did accomplish a few things- for which I was VERY proud of considering all of the other challenges we had!

1. I was able to do a school tour- we didn't hit all of the major places but we did hit a few (lunch room, nurses office, gymnasium)- and I consider that success!
2. I was able to read my kids 2 books about the first day of school- they loved it! That was the time they were the most calm--and that was good for my sanity!
3. I was able to read a Clifford book and have all of my students follow directions long enough to complete a Clifford craft! They turned out so cute!!! (I was just proud that all of them still had both ears attached!)
4.  I was able take a picture of each of my students in the cute "1st day of school" frame I made.  I know the parents will love it when I give them the pictures! I plan on doing another similar picture at the end of the year to see how much they grew. Here is what my daughter looked like in the frame!

As a side note::: This was our family picture of my husband and I on our little Madison's first day of school! She was so ready for school to start!

  1. Sorry your first day was so hectic, but, I think it's unavoidable! LOL! On a happy note, your Clifford's look great and your daughter is a cutie. Congrats to her for staring her first day of K and you for surviving it!
